Carbon Neutral Hosting -- Sustainable Internet

It offers a range of features including Cpanel Web hosting control panel, 25MB of space, PHP, HTML, XHTML, JAVA script support, and high end technical support.

Additionally, the serve is easy to use manage and requires no programming knowledge.

When I made the decision to move both my own websites and my clients websites to a carbon neutral host, I spent a long time researching different companies and the various methods they employ to be carbon neutral. While some companies actually power their equipment directly with sustainable energy such as solar power (I believe this is ideal), others work at reducing their emissions, buy renewable energy, then offset what they can't reduce and this is what Dreamhost do.

So, why did I choose Dreamhost? Obviously there are other deciding factors when choosing a web host and for me they were price and reliability. Dreamhost have been around for ten years, so I am confident that they will be around for a long time to come. It also means that there is a lot of information about them on the internet -- it can be quite difficult to find information about peoples experiences with smaller and / or newer companies.

I was also looking for shared hosting, as none of the websites I host are big enough to require anything more than this, so it makes sense to not have to pay for something that isn't needed! And due to Dreamhost being a larger company, it means their prices are very affordable -- especially if you use Dreamhost codes which are easily found on this website or elsewhere on the internet (I recommend searching for codes no matter what hosting provider you choose, as often you will find something that will give you either a discount or free extras).

Dreamhost are also owned by their employees, which is something I'd never heard of before with a web hosting company, so this also factored into my decision.

Of course, I also searched their forums and the internet to ensure that the software I run (such as Drupal, Wordpress, osCommerce, Magento Commerce, etc.) would work on their servers -- and it all does and I can say that I've had no problems so far!

I've had a few questions, which have always been answered promptly and correctly by their support team. One time I noticed some of my sites were down, but after checking it seemed as though they were just down for me, so may have been a DNS issue with my ISP. Apart from that, I've had no problems.

Migrating the sites over was quite painless, I used to have a reseller account at my old host, with separate cpanel accounts for each website -- which I quite liked. Dreamhost doesn't use cpanel, instead they have their own system, which I have come to prefer -- it's a lot easier just logging in once and having access to all of the sites I'm hosting! And they make things as easy as possible, for example to change between PHP4 and PHP5 you just need to click the button and wait a few minutes. And despite not having separate cpanel accounts, you can still create a different user and separate FTP accounts for each domain if you wish.

Another things I love about Dreamhost is the amount of control they give me. At my last host I'd have to request SSH access for each account if I needed it -- with Dreamhost I can set this up myself and once again it just takes a few minutes and it's all done.

The amount of disk space and bandwidth you have increases each week -- although I don't know how anyone could use all of that disk space!

Overall, I love having my hosting with Dreamhost, and I highly recommend them.
